PRIME has a reference room with books, magazines, and audiovisual materials collected according to the unique perspectives of our affiliated researchers. These materials may be browsed on-site (prior appointment required).
The room has the Pugwash library, which is a collection of records, resources and documents pertaining to the Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs, and PCJF (Peace & Cooperative Journalist Fund of Japan) Library.

The Pugwash Library was established in April 2003 within the PRIME Research Library. Its purpose is to collect, organize, and make available records, documents, and publications related to the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs (hereafter referred to as the “Pugwash Conferences”) for researchers, students, and the general public.
Since its founding in 1957, the Pugwash Conferences have been energetically devoted to the pursuit of a “world without war.” They have addressed a wide range of issues, including nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, international security, environmental protection, development, and the social responsibility of scientists. In recognition of their role—particularly during the Cold War era—in helping to prevent nuclear conflict, the organization was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995.
The accumulated discussions and research achievements of the Pugwash Conferences, which have long engaged with global issues such as nuclear disarmament, constitute a valuable asset for the field of international peace studies.
At the Pugwash Library, visitors can access a variety of materials and publications related to the Pugwash Conferences, collected by PRIME through its extensive networks both within Japan and abroad. We warmly welcome your visit and use of the library.

Peace & Cooperative Journalist Fund (PCJF) Library was established in September 2014 within the PRIME Research Library.
The Peace and Cooperative Journalist Fund (hereafter referred to as PCJF) is maintained and operated through contributions from individuals and organizations who share its mission. The Fund presents the PCJF Award to journalists who have produced outstanding works or made significant achievements in fields such as anti-nuclear and peace initiatives, cooperation and solidarity, and human rights issues.
The PCJF Library was created to make available to researchers, students, and the general public the records, documents, and publications that PCJF has collected over the years and subsequently entrusted to PRIME.
We warmly welcome your visit and use of the library.
